Dear Rachel ...

Dear Rachel,

I just want you to know that you are in my thoughts and prayers a lot. I can't even imagine what you are going through right now. I wish I can find some words of comfort to ease the pain you are experiencing, but I know there is none...

Joey loves you and you love Joey. There is no doubt about that. Your adventure together will give us warm memories of Joey. I know there will be a lot of tears flowing, because you are missing Joey ... let the tears flow sweetie, let it flow. Know that we are crying with you.

You are part of our Ohana, a special part of it, and we are always here for you.

I am looking forward to seeing you here on Maui so I can give you a hug.

Love,
Liza

(*** Note- I moved this post up (changed date up) because I noticed new comments coming in here... please continue to pray for Rachel)

Dear Rachel,

Although we've only met a couple of times, we feel like we know you through following the "Van Down By The River" as you traveled for that year. Also from things we've heard from Joe, Karen and the rest of the family.

They love you very much and I know Joey did too. Our hearts are very heavy, however, praying, trusting and believing God will carry you through this time.

Much love,

Cliff & Jeri Kunkel

Dear Rachel,

I know we have only met a handful of times. My heart goes out to you during this difficult time. I just can't imagine what you are going thru and how you are feeling. I just wanted you to know that you have been on my mind a lot and I have been praying that God will help you thru this.

With lots of Love and Aloha,

Dear Rachel,
You don't know me, but I am a friend of Mackenzie and Jim Abraham and went to Point Loma with them. Through their blog I was able to see yours and all the beautiful pictures you and Joey took on your trip. I was continually touched by the sweetness and obvious love that came through. I was always impressed by your sense of adventure and your willingness to go where the wind might take you. I have never met either of you but am crying tears of sadness over your loss. I cannot imagine what you are feeling. I only pray that as each day passes you are given the gift of courage to rise and meet the next.

with love and prayers,
Kelli Henderson

Dear Rachel,

May the Lord be your strenght and carry you thru this season...one day at a time.

My name is Kim Insley-Morrell. I am a friend of the Johnson family, mom of 2 kids (Dustin Insley, Quinn Marie Insley) who hung with Spencer here on Maui.

Coming from someone who lost the love of my life...my first husband died of Cancer on Maui when Dustin and Quinn were 4 & 5 years old....I can honestly say I know the depths of your grieving. The Lord will carry you through...one day at a time. Even when you do not know how to get though another day...the Lord will get you through.

The tears I shed for you right now someone I have never met are very real, because I know your pain.

Just know all the prayers and love and support for the Johnson Ohana incudes you!!!

Thank you for sharing the photos of your trip...it brings joy to see you 2 together.

Love in Christ,

Kim Insley-Morrell

Rachel-
I know your love for Joe and his for you was the truest that can be had on Earth, as you two loved each other without veils-you two loved each other for who you really were.
